2018 End of Year Recap

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

Wow! Another year at the CMQG has closed, with many exciting things to come in 2019.

Since our last blog post (August----whoops!) we've been busy! To recap our September to December meetings we've compiled this blog post with some highlights and pictures from this fall.

In September we took the CMQG on the road to Indiana to see Heather Givens (of Crimson Tate shop & fabric https://www.crimsontate.com) speak at the Rivertown Quilters Guild. Heather has an amazing story and such innovative designs. Plus she had a pop-up shop where we all *may* have spent a bit of money! Many thanks to Rivertown Quilters Guild for hosting us!

After two months of guest speakers (August was Cassandra Beaver highlighted in our previous blog post), we were back to routine meetings for October. The guild was hard at work on our Quiltcon Charity Quilt. We'll share pictures once it's all complete, but you can see sneak peaks on our Facebook and Instagram pages! We also continued our "What is Modern" discussion by looking at modern quilts with a new take on traditional blocks. Finally, we continued exchange of our bee blocks for the 2018 Hive.

November was our last "routine" meeting of the year. We had a great education session led by our VP, Amy, on how to recreate the style of quilts you see (if a pattern isn't available) or turn other quilty inspirations into real works of art.

Finally, December brought us our maker's fair/fabric destash/holiday party and guild elections for 2019.

We'd like to thank all of the previous board members, especially President Abby Graham, for their hard work the past two years!

From the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild we wish you all a happy 2019 and can't wait to share our plans for the year, the topic of our January meeting.
