We got a little technical at our meeting this month, talking all thing website. I know what you may be thinking, what do websites and technology have to do with quilting? If you're a modern quilter then websites and technology should be a resource in your tool kit. Both the National website and our own offers some great resources, from patterns to classes.
If you're a member of our guild, we have many benefits on our website for you. All charity projects and patterns, as well a our Sewing Bee Block of the Month, are posted to our Members Only section. You don't have to be participating in the Sewing Bee to make the blocks either. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or try out a new technique. Our future retreat information will listed on our website as well. So check back often to see what new updates we roll out with this year.
In addition to our website, there is also the Nation Modern Quilt Guild website. As a dues paying member, you have the opportunity to take classes from some experts in any particular field. They have many webinars, articles, and tutorials on just about anything you can think of when it comes to quilting. Do you want to up your straight line quilting game and learn a new technique? Well there is a webinar from Natalia Bonner called "Fearless Straight Line Quilting" on how to do so. The National Guild also comes out with a curated quarterly issue that highlights block studies, quilt patterns and new resources to encourage and develop growth within our quilting community. Our own Guild Member, Yolanda Whitehead, was featured with her block, Staggered Steps.
Since most of us are practicing some social distancing due to COVID-19, now is a great opportunity to explore what these websites have to offer. If you are not a member but have been following us for a while, then what are you waiting for? Join us (or your local modern quilt guild) and see all the great support the local and national guild(s) have to offer. Since we had to cancel our Sew In this month, we are encouraging everyone to participate in our virtual Sew In on Saturday March 21st. Use the hashtags #sewcialdistancing and #cincinnatimqg to play along. Cant wait to see everyone's projects!
