May Meeting Recap

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

As part of our continuing series on "What is Modern?", the group discussed characteristics that make quilts more traditional vs. modern. On the left side you'll find what our group considered as more modern quilting techniques and on the right is more traditional.

Other items discussed:

  1. Collected fabric scraps for dog bed donations

  2. Angela Walters will be a presenter at the 2019 Ohio Valley Quilters Guild

  3. Continued to search for B&W scrap panel blocks for charity quilts

  4. Launching another charity quilt for the HART Animal Rescue. Last year we auctioned off a dog-themed quilt. This year will be cats!

  5. Yo presented her bee blocks, which are staggered stripes.

  6. Quiltcon 2019 Charity Quilt project sign-ups were initiated

  7. Don't forget to register for Quiltcon; registration begins 26 June!

Our educational session this was a free motion quilting demo from our one and only, Holly (@quiltyholly on instagram). She frequently quilts for guild members and does long-arm quilting as a business. We can attest to the beauty of the work Holly does! Her tutorial ties in with our Skyline Quilt Along Challenge (#cmqgskyline), due in July. We'd love to see your best free motion quilting on your Cincinnati Skyline project.

So many fun designs with free motion quilting!

Join us for our next meeting June 13th at 7pm!
